Manvel City Council’s Oct. 5 meeting left Presidio’s final zoning decision unresolved while advancing a housing accommodation and police grant application.
Council unanimously postponed the final reading for the approximately 394-acre tract near SH 288 and Highway 6. Mayor Dan Davis called for consistent development agreements and adequate answers on traffic, water, wastewater and specific-use permits before the proposal returns.
For the proposed group home at 2619 Broad Reach Road, council retained the specific-use permit requirement, waived the fee and directed faster administrative review. Required public-hearing notices still apply; the vote did not waive the permitting process.
Council also authorized an application for police training ammunition through the Friends of NRA grant program. Separately, City Manager Dan Johnson announced an approximately $100,000 body-camera grant. Meridiana Section 28C infrastructure was accepted to begin a two-year maintenance period.
The workshop covered Aurelia’s updated Belcher Tract proposal, possible city-center planning and Meridiana’s progress report. Johnson’s strategic update identified spring 2027 as a more realistic completion window for Heritage Park and noted planned lighting and parking improvements at Almost Heaven Park.
The planning commission appointment was postponed to allow another eligible applicant to interview. Residents can watch the recording, review the city agenda portal and check the next posted agenda for both that appointment and Presidio’s return. Read More... |
Two Manvel churches have fall celebrations planned for October 16–18, giving local families options across the weekend. Saturday’s main outing is at MastersRoad, while Sacred Heart’s bazaar culminates in a Sunday festival.
Fall Free for All is advertised for October 17, 2–6 p.m., at 6911 Masters Road, with free food, games, live music, a car show and BBQ competition. The church’s signup pages also list Trunk or Treat and a Bake Off that afternoon.
Competition participation has separate requirements: Bake Off entries cost $25 each, with baked items due by 2 p.m. and judging at 2:30 p.m. People supplying decorated trunks may begin setting up at 1 p.m. and must stay until 6 p.m.
Sacred Heart begins its bazaar weekend with Friday bingo and a Saturday dinner and live auction. Sunday’s festival runs 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with carnival games, inflatables, food and market booths, desserts, a silent auction and a raffle drawing.
The parish is at 6502 County Road 48. Friday and Saturday start times and bazaar prices were not specified in the posted schedule; call 281-489-8720 to confirm.
Families can plan a Saturday MastersRoad visit and a Sunday Sacred Heart outing. Review organizer updates before heading out, and distinguish free public attendance from any competition, meal or activity charges. Read More... |
Fire + Form Pilates & Lagree is preparing to open at 3573 County Road 58, Suite A, in Manvel, with a planned mix of machine-based Lagree training and heated and non-heated mat classes.
The studio postponed its previously planned October 12 debut. In an October 9 announcement, it said outstanding building inspections were preventing it from receiving its Certificate of Occupancy; that status has not been independently confirmed with the city.
October 19 is a hoped-for opening date, not a confirmed one. Fire + Form said it would update customers by email and social media once the timing is certain, while using the delay for instructor preparation and a Founding Members soft-opening plan.
Reservations for the affected week will be canceled and class credits returned, according to the announcement. Memberships will not activate until clients check in for their first class.
The planned lineup includes MiniPro Lagree, heated Pilates Sculpt, non-heated Pilates Strength and Signature, Pilates Stretch and Hot Yoga. Clients can compare formats before booking.
The studio’s FAQ requires grip socks and asks visitors to bring water and arrive early. Presale memberships list a three-month minimum commitment and automatic renewal. Confirm billing and booking arrangements before purchasing, and contact info@fireandformpilates.com with account questions. Read More... |
