Alvin ISD students will be off October 12–16, 2026, giving families five weekdays to trade the school routine for a little local exploring. The district’s approved calendar places Fall Break alongside the Brazoria County Fair week.

For families in Manvel, Iowa Colony, Pearland, Rosharon and Alvin, the strongest confirmed weekday choices include farm activities and library programs. This guide also includes self-guided outdoor outings where a dated public event could not be verified. All times are local.

Alvin: Make a weekday trip to Froberg’s Farm

Froberg’s Farm, 3601 Highway 6 in Alvin, is advertising a Fall Break Special October 12–16 with $10 entry and hours of 9 a.m.–6 p.m. There will be plenty see and do such as a corn maze, pig races, a pumpkin patch, flower picking, food and more.

Families can make a day of seasonal activities during the school holiday. Visit FrobergsFarm.com for details, or call 281-585-3531 to ask about activity availability and any additional charges.

Alvin Branch Library, 105 S. Gordon, has a pumpkin-themed Preschool Storytime on Wednesday, October 14, from 10:30–11:45 a.m. Children ages 3–5 can enjoy stories, songs, dancing and a pumpkin craft. Toddler Storytime follows Thursday, October 15, from 10:30–11 a.m., also with a pumpkin theme.

Manvel: Stories, crafts and movement for little ones

Manvel Branch Library, 20514B Highway 6, takes preschoolers into an alien-themed storytime Wednesday, October 14, from 10:15–11 a.m. The program includes stories, songs, rhymes and a craft for ages 3–5; attendance is capped at 35.

On Thursday, October 15, Toddler Movers & Shakers offers music and movement in two sessions: 10:15–10:45 a.m. and 10:45–11:15 a.m. These morning programs are especially useful for families balancing a younger sibling’s routine with the school holiday.

Pearland: A movie night and monster-themed mornings

Pearland Branch Library, 3522 Liberty Drive, hosts Family Fun Night on Wednesday, October 14, from 6–7:30 p.m., featuring Monsters, Inc., rated PG. It is an evening option for families who cannot head out during the workday.

The branch also schedules monster-themed Toddler Storytime Tuesday, October 13, at 10:15–11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.–noon. Preschool Storytime is Thursday, October 15, from 10:30–11 a.m. The event listings do not specify admission charges or registration links; check with the branch about attendance requirements.

Iowa Colony: Keep an afternoon simple

For an unstructured outing, Iowa Colony City Park is listed by the city at 4003 Meridiana Parkway, next to Meridiana Elementary. Pack a picnic and make it an outdoor afternoon. This is a self-guided park option, rather than a scheduled Fall Break event.

Nearby in Angleton: Brazoria County Fair

The Brazoria County Fair runs October 9–17 at 901 S. Downing Road in Angleton, offering another Fall Break outing for families across the corridor. Admission gates are open noon–midnight October 12–16.

Tuesday, October 13, and Thursday, October 15, offer free gate admission. Published gate rates are $10 for adults Monday and Wednesday and $15 Friday; ages 7–15 are $5 on paid admission days, and children 6 and younger enter free. Online checkout displays different prices, so check the ticket page before buying. General parking is free.

Carnival rides cost extra. The carnival opens at 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Tuesday’s rides are $2 each; regular wristbands are $28. Monday’s Food Pantry Night offers a discount coupon for three canned-food donations at Gate 2. Wednesday’s Buddy Night offers a second wristband with a qualifying coupon from NAPA Auto Parts or TJ’s Lube Stop; both riders must be present.

The petting zoo is scheduled daily during the break, with hours varying by day. Thursday and Friday feature Mutton Bustin at 6:30 p.m. and the PRCA Rodeo at 7 p.m. Check the official fair schedule for livestock shows, exhibits and activity times before heading out.

Weekend bonus: Meridiana residents’ Fall Festival

Meridiana’s festival is Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., at Adventure Cove and Oasis Village. The organizer lists it as a residents-only event and requests advance RSVPs. It falls after the weekday break and should not be treated as an open public festival.

Before you go

Brazoria County Library System branches are closed Monday, October 12, for staff development. Recheck event calendars and outdoor conditions before leaving home.
