MANVEL, TX — Residents across Manvel are being invited to show their patriotic spirit this summer as the city prepares to celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a community-wide decorating competition. The initiative, called "Light Up Manvel," encourages homeowners and businesses to decorate their properties with red, white, and blue displays in recognition of the nation's semiquincentennial celebration on July 4, 2026. Participants are encouraged to decorate rooftops, porches, fences, trees, yards, and storefronts with patriotic lights and displays. City officials hope the effort will transform neighborhoods throughout Manvel into a visible celebration of community pride and American history. Residents who want to participate in the competition can register through June 29. Registered displays will be included on a city GIS map, allowing residents to tour decorated homes and vote for their favorites. Online voting will be open from July 4 through July 18. Winners are scheduled to be recognized during the July 20 City Council meeting. The contest is part of a broader series of activities planned by the City of Manvel to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. Earlier this year, the city announced a commemorative logo design competition and other community engagement initiatives tied to the historic milestone. The celebration comes at a time when Manvel continues to experience significant growth and community investment. According to the city's long-range planning efforts, residents consistently identify community pride, family-oriented events, and preserving Manvel's unique identity as important priorities as the city expands.
