MANVEL, TX — Residents will have a chance to leave a lasting mark on Manvel this summer as the city launches a community-wide tree planting event in celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The City of Manvel is inviting 250 local families to participate in a special tree-planting event at Buddy Williams Park on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 8 a.m. The initiative is part of the nationwide America250 celebration commemorating the nation's semiquincentennial. City officials plan to plant 250 trees throughout the park and are seeking one participating family for each tree. The project is being supported through a partnership with Rise Communities and the Meridiana development, which are sponsoring the donation of 250 five-gallon trees. In addition to providing the trees, the developers will assist with site preparation and temporary irrigation to support the young trees until permanent infrastructure can be installed. Registration for the event opens June 10 at 10 a.m. through an online sign-up process. Participation will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration will close once all planting spots have been filled. The City will provide all planting materials and supplies. Participants are encouraged to bring water, wear weather-appropriate clothing, and prepare for outdoor conditions. Because Buddy Williams Park remains an undeveloped site, city officials note that the terrain is currently uneven and not wheelchair accessible. Residents interested in participating should consider the site's natural conditions before registering. Event Details
