288 Gives Back: Keep Manvel Beautiful Gives Residents Plenty of Ways to Get Involved |
From community cleanups to gardening and local events, Keep Manvel Beautiful is giving residents hands-on ways to help care for the community. |

Want to give back to Manvel but aren't sure where to start? Keep Manvel Beautiful may be one of the easiest places to begin. The 288 Insider caught up with the organization at Manvel Market this past weekend, where volunteers were sharing information about upcoming cleanups, community garden projects and other opportunities for residents to get involved. And October is shaping up to be a busy month.
Fall Sweep Coming Oct. 17One of the organization's biggest upcoming volunteer opportunities is the Keep Manvel Beautiful Fall Sweep on Saturday, Oct. 17. According to information shared at Manvel Market, volunteers will meet at Croix Memorial Park between 8 and 8:15 a.m. before heading out for the community cleanup.
The event is part of the larger Keep Texas Beautiful Fall Sweep, a statewide effort that encourages Texans to organize litter cleanups, beautification projects, recycling events, tree plantings and other projects in their communities.
Dig In at the Community GardenFor residents who would rather get their hands in the dirt, Keep Manvel Beautiful also has ongoing volunteer opportunities at the Manvel Community Garden. Information displayed at the group's booth says Community Garden Volunteer Days are held on the second and last Saturday of each month from 8 to 9 a.m.
Upcoming activities promoted by the organization also include Yoga in the Garden, a Curb to Compost workshop and Arbor Day activities at Croix Park. It's a mix that gives residents different ways to participate — whether that means picking up litter, helping in the garden or simply showing up for a community event. Why It MattersManvel is growing quickly, but keeping a community welcoming takes more than new homes, roads and businesses. It also takes residents willing to invest a little time in the place they call home. Keep Manvel Beautiful's message at the market was simple: there are opportunities to do exactly that — and you don't necessarily need to make a major commitment to make a difference. Sometimes giving back starts with one Saturday morning, one trash bag or one garden bed. At a Glance
